Love Long
Lost, or Perhaps Never Found. She flew out upon a morning clear, To find the one she held so dear. Up the mountain she flew high, To search below from the sky. But even from her lofty perch, The one she loved evaded search. She then descended to the deep, Searching for the one to keep. Amongst the lost, tortured and cursed, She felt that her heart might burst. Yet the one she held up so high, Was ne'er to be found in the place of no sky. She winged over a thick carpet of green, Hoping her loved one could be seen. Then her heart leaped, her spirit did soar, For from within the green, could be heard a roar. Answering with all her breath, She dove inside the forest's depth. It was not to be and her heart sank, Twas only two young ones, detirmining rank. She watched a while, Her face a sad smile. With great sadness she did depart, A small crack forming on her heart. Inspiration then made it's mark, "Further north!", she did remark. And with that, her wings gained strength, For she had to travel, and at length. Soon she found the place of cold, Her joints hurt, and she felt quite old. And still she could not see, The one with she was to spend eternity. She cried his name, And yet no answer came. When she could bear no more, She went home, saddened to the core. She landed heavily at the hall, And had no answer for her family's call. With drooping wings, and eyes aweep, She settled in for a long, long sleep. And she dreamed, of a happier place, And of when she last looked upon his face. -Written by Yang, April 1999 |
